House Education Chair Proctor: Good News from State University System

Rep. Bill Proctor, R-St. Augustine, knows a little about education. Not only does he chair the House Education Committee but he has a Ph.D. from Florida State University and is the chancellor of Flagler College. Proctor weighed in on Tuesday on new figures noting that there were more students enrolled in the state university system and that the students admitted did better on standardized tests.

Newly released data by the state university system show continued increased enrollment in our states universities, as well as newly admitted university students scoring higher on the SAT/ACT, said Proctor. These dataare indicative of the competitiveness of our state university system and will serve to increase the entry level standards of our states universities.

Higher entry level standards are critical in not only maintaining the competitiveness of our university system, but in ensuring that universities continue to offer academically rigorous coursework, added Proctor.
