Holly Merrill Raschein Leaving Democratic Opponent in the Dust in the Money Race

Rep. Holly Merrill Raschein, R-Key Largo, has a head start in the money chase over a Democratic opponent. Raschein, who represents all of Monroe County and parts of Miami-Dade County, raised $10,575 and spent almost $2,400 in the second quarter of 2013. So far in the election, she has brought in $22,225 and spent around $3,860.

Pamela Gray entered the race in May and did little fundraising to start her campaign, bringing in $100. Its an underwhelming start, especially as Gray had made a bid for the Miami-Dade Commission and has been active with the Redlands Citizens Association and the Miami-Dade Planning Advisory Board.

This is a swing district with Democrats making up 38 percent of it while 36 percent are registered Republicans.
