In His Final Days, Will Crist Pack Florida Courts With Liberals?

Outgoing Gov. Charlie Crist says one of his top orders of business is to fill judicial vacancies. With 10 open slots, including five circuit court positions and one appellate court vacancy, conservatives should beware.

The guv's appointments have been a mixed bag at the Supreme Court. Two of his most recent picks -- Jorge Labarga and James Perry -- appeared to be affirmative-action hires as they were sent up by the Judicial Nominating Commission per Crist's request for more "diversity."

Labarga and Perry received sub-par retention votes this month after a tea party coalition targeted the jurists for their decision to strike down Amendment 9, the anti-Obamacare measure.

As Republican lawmakers prepare to override several Crist vetoes next week, could more left-leaning judicial activists be in the lame-duck governor's pipeline?

Republican-turned-indie Crist may be finished politically, but his legacy will live on from the bench(es). God help Florida.
