Hillary Clinton: I'll Take Administrative Action to End Gun Violence If Elected President

Hillary Clinton Credit: Sunshine State NewsHillary Clinton wants to crack down on gun violence in the United States, and she says she's prepared to use an executive order to do so if elected president.

In a series of tweets posted Monday, Clinton said now is the time to act on gun violence, and called for a reform on laws which she believes contribute to a growing number of gun crimes across the country.

"It’s time for us to say, wait a minute. We’re better than this," said Clinton. "Our country is better than this."

Clinton's plan to crack down on gun violence would include advocating for comprehensive federal background checks as well as tightening gun show and internet sales of firearms if Congress won't act. Clinton's plan would also prevent domestic abusers from purchasing firearms and would make "straw purchasing" -- purchasing a firearm for someone else with the intention of giving it to a felon -- a federal crime.

Last week, a shooter went on a deadly rampage at a community college in Oregon, killing nine people and wounding seven.

"We cannot sit by while more people die," Clinton tweeted. "We must act to stop gun violence, and we cannot wait any longer."
