Herman Cain Leads Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul

Businessman Herman Cain leads the pack of Republican presidential candidates in a national New York Times/CBS News poll released on Tuesday morning. Cain takes 25 percent while former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts places second with 21 percent. Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich takes 10 percent with U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas in fourth place at 8 percent. Gov. Rick Perry of Texas stands in fifth with 6 percent. The other candidates take 2 percent or less.

The national poll of 455 likely Republican primary voters was taken Oct. 19-24 with a margin of error of +/- 5 percent.
