Heat Will Continue to Impact North Florida All Week

Florida Emergency Management issued a warning about continued high temperatures on Monday, noting that the heat index could rise to as high as 115 degrees and that North Florida will be heavily impacted. Heat advisories have already been issued for the following counties in North Florida: Franklin, Liberty, Gulf, Calhoun, Jackson, Bay, Washington, Holmes and Walton.

Even higher temperatures and heat index values are forecast across the entire state this week and could reach dangerous levels, said Amy Godsey, the state meteorologist, on Monday. It is very important that our residents and visitors take precautions by keeping hydrated and avoiding extended hours in the afternoon sun when at all possible.

Godsey and her team are recommending Floridians take a look at some tips from the National Weather Service to beat the heat.
