Harry Reid Said It: 'Private-Sector Jobs Have Been Doing Just Fine'

In a Senate floor speech -- in which he defended his party's push for more government jobs -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid baldly declared on Wednesday: Its very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine."

Republicans noted that the Democrat's statement came on the same day a new Labor Department report showed Washington, D.C., had surpassed Silicon Valley as the wealthiest metropolitan area in the country.

Reid, D-Pluto, apparently is determined to downgrade his title from majority leader to minority leader. And if Bill Nelson keeps following his leader, the two-term senator may lose his title altogether next November.
