Gus Bilirakis: Supreme Court Needs to Rein Obama in on Executive Action on Immigration
U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Fla., cheered the news the U.S. Supreme Court would review a challenge to President Barack Obama’s use of executive power to pursue immigration.
"By continuing to sidestep Congress to further his own agenda, the president again sends a disturbing message to the American people that he will do what it takes to further his efforts, regardless of the legality of his actions,” Bilirakis said on Thursday. “As a proud cosigner of an amicus curiae brief in support of Texas and the 25 other states involved, this announcement that the Supreme Court will evaluate the president's immigration policy overreach is encouraging. I hope the court will uphold our nation’s basic principles when they consider this case. We must ensure that all branches of our government are held accountable and that our leaders are encouraged to work together to determine the best path for our nation.”
