Gus Bilirakis Hammers Eric Holder on 'Fast and Furious'

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis weighed in on Tuesday on reports that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder knew about the problems with the federal "Fast and Furious" program which allowed guns to fall into the hands of drug traffickers.

"It is extremely troubling that the United States government would willfully allow weapons to be acquired by dangerous criminal and drug-trafficking organizations," said Bilirakis from his perch on the House Homeland Security Committee. "It is also very disturbing to find out that Attorney General Holder and the Obama administration might have known about this program."

Bilirakis has weighed in on the issue a number of times now -- including sending letters to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the failed program, and speaking at a joint hearing on Tuesday that the Homeland Security Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee held on drug violence in Mexico. He vowed on Tuesday to continue to fight for an investigation of the program -- and Holders actions in regard to it.
