Governors at the Governors Inn

The historic Governors Inn in downtown Tallahassee will be holding its grand reopening on Wednesday and there will be governors galore in attendance.

The inn will be naming rooms after four former governors who will all be in attendance. Former Governors Claude Kirk, Reubin Askew, Bob Graham and Bob Martinez will be present at the reopening. Gov. Charlie Crist is expected to attend.

Florida has three other former governors who are still living. Wayne Mixson served as governor for three days in 1987 between Grahams resignation to take a U.S. Senate seat and Martinezs inauguration. Buddy MacKay served as governor for three weeks in 1998-99 after the death of Lawton Chiles and Jeb Bushs inauguration. Elected in 1998, Bush served two terms in office.
