Gov. Scott Meets With Kenya Prime Minister

Gov. Rick Scott met Thursday withRaila Amollo Odinga, the prime minister of Kenya, highlighting increased trade between Florida and the East African nation. Scott said he was fond of the country, having travelled extensively through Kenya.

"I've been all over Kenya, driven clear across the country. My wife and I did a project in the Bengali area for four years in Kenya. It's a great country. Our goal together is for Florida to build up trade with Kenya. The prime minister is here traveling, he's been in New York and here to create more trade opportunities and more investment in Kenya," Scott said.

Odinga stressed the need for trade, but also spoke about his visit with Vice President Joe Biden and their talks on southern Sudan and Somalia.

"Icame here to open an investment conference in New York, to showcase Kenya and Africa as a friendly investment. We are laying more emphasis on trade and investment," Odinga said. "We look forward to closer cooperation and trade between Kenya and Florida," he added.
