Gov. Rick Scott Hopes for No Challenges to Drug Testing Law

Gov. Rick Scott was on the radio Tuesday morning discussing his Monday night signing of a bill, HB 1205, which would require 10 percent of state workers to submit to random drug testing once every three months.

Most private companies now, they drug screen their employees to make sure they have a qualified work force, Scott said while on NewsTalk 1370 WCOA in Pensacola. We need to be doing the same thing with your tax dollars.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, which filed suit last year when Scott sought a similar proposal, is expected to challenge the law which goes into effect July 1, the start of the next fiscal year.

I hope it doesnt go to the courts, Scott said. Its the right thing to do with your tax dollars, make sure the money is spent well. Well see what happens.
