GOP Senate Hopeful Craig Miller Endorses 'Cut, Cap and Balance'

On Tuesday, businessman Craig Miller, who is now running for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, backed the cut, cap and balance pledge. The pledge opposes raising the federal debt limit and backs a balanced federal budget and lower spending. It is supported by a number of prominent conservative organizations, including FreedomWorks, Club for Growth and the Family Research Council, as well as many Republican officeholders and candidates.

This debt showdown is a unique opportunity for our country to begin to get its fiscal house in order, said Miller. After years of empty rhetoric from both parties, now is the time for our elected leaders to cut and cap federal spending, while enacting a balanced budget amendment. We can and must get back on a sustainable economic path. Congress and the president should be looking for ways to reduce our debt, not convenient excuses to increase it.
