GOP on Senate Dems' Budget Blockade: Bill Nelson is No Joe Manchin
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., broke ranks with fellow Democrats this week by deriding his party for failing to pass a budget in nearly 1,000 days.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee praised the recently elected Manchin, and assailed his two-term Democratic colleague, Sen. Bill Nelson, who is up for election in Florida next year.
This is one area where Republicans agree with Democrat Joe Manchin; there is absolutely no excuse why Senator Nelson and his fellow Senate Democrats have refused to produce a budget in almost three years as theyve ran up our debt past $15 trillion," said Jahan Wilcox, NRSC spokesman.
"As a candidate in 2000, Bill Nelson ran as a fiscal moderate, but for the last 11 years he has shown his true colors as a big-government, big-spending liberal, and thats why we expect voters will replace him with a common-sense, fiscally responsible Republican next year," Wilcox said.
Nelson's office did not respond to Sunshine State News' requests for comment.
