GOP Gov Candidates Rick Scott and Bill McCollum Set for Two Debates, With a Third Likely
Attorney General Bill McCollum's campaign team just released a memo revealing details on debates with Rick Scott -- McCollum's main rival for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
"The first debate will be hosted by Univision on Aug. 2, 2010, in Miami. The second debate will be Aug. 5, 2010, in Tampa, hosted by local Fox affiliate WTVT," wrote Doyle Bartlett --an adviser to McCollum --to the Scott camp. Additionally, Attorney General McCollum has confirmed he will participate in Leadership Floridas Aug. 11, 2010, debate in Orlando. This is the only debate that will air on commercial stations throughout Florida and Mr. Scott is a member of the host organization.
Looks like two debates for sure -- and possibly a third. These debates could be crucial as neither candidate pulls over 50 percent in polls, although Scott has been ahead of McCollum in recent polls. Both men have shown no hesitation in attacking one another -- meaning there could be some real fireworks when they share the same stage.
UPDATE: And the Scott team sent out a release saying the debate in Miami is on Aug. 7.
UPDATE II: Looks like the debate will be held in Miami on August 2 but it will not be aired until the 7th.
