GOP Congressional Hopeful Craig Miller Backs Repeal of the Death Tax

Restaurant executive Craig Miller is running in a crowded -- and competitive -- Republican primary for the new congressional seat stretching on the Atlantic Coast from Ponte Vedra down to Volusia County. Miller announced on Tuesday that he had signed a pledge to repeal the death tax being circulated by the American Family Business Institute.

I believe that issues like unemployment and the economy have to be at the top of the list as we go into this election, Miller said. We know that repealing the death tax means a million jobs saved along with billions in capital put back to work for the economy. As someone who has spent a lifetime creating jobs in the private sector, I have a good understanding of how you put capital to work to encourage investment. If you have a cavity, you go to a dentist; a legal matter will have you seek an attorney. However to solve a problem with unemployment, you should count on someone who has a track record of creating over 40,000 jobs, many in the coastal congressional district.

Miller faces some serious competition from fellow Republicans: state Rep. Fred Costello, R-Ormond Beach; attorney and conservative activist Ron DeSantis; Jacksonville City Councilman Richard Clark; and Bill Kogut who has run twice for the U.S. Senate.
