George W. Bush Undergoes Heart Surgery
Former president George W. Bush had heart surgery Tuesday tohave a stent inserted after a blockage was discovered in an artery, his spokesman said.
According to a press release, the blockage was discovered during his annual physical exam at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas.
The surgery was performed successfully without any complication Tuesday morning at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.
"President Bush is in high spirits, eager to return home tomorrow and resume his normal schedule on Thursday," said spokesman Freddy Ford. "He is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him. He thanks his family, friends, and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes. And he encourages us all to get our regular checkups."
