George Pataki Praises Health Care Repeal

Former New York Gov. George Pataki, who has been pushing for repeal of President Barack Obamas federal health care law, thanked U.S. House Speaker John Boehner for the repeal vote that passed the House on Wednesday. Pataki, who leads the Revere America PAC, is contemplating running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

On behalf of the 1.1 million people who signed Revere Americas petition to repeal and replace the federal health care law, I support your effort for swift and bipartisan passage of legislation now pending in the U.S. House of Representatives, wrote Pataki. Revere America campaigned in more than 20 states for common-sense policies that advance free markets, patient choice and long-term prosperity. You were the first elected official to take Revere Americas pledge to repeal and replace the health care law, and I applaud your leadership and those members of both parties who stand with you to reverse this disastrous policy.

The pending legislation, which we support, not only repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010, but accompanying resolutions also direct House committees to devise new and better market-based solutions, added Pataki. Revere America is committed to working with lawmakers of both political parties -- and is already working closely with the nation's governors -- to find constructive replacements for the current, ill-conceived health care law. The legislation now under consideration in the House is an excellent start to that effort.
