George LeMieux Takes Aim at Connie Mack's 'Spotty' Voting Record

With the GOP presidential primary now in the rearview mirror, Florida Republicans can expect more focus on the contest to see who will emerge with the partys nomination to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in November.

Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux took aim at U.S. Rep. Connie Mack, his chief rival in the GOP primary, on Tuesday. Noting that Mack denied in a TV interview with WINK that he backed supporting earmarks, raising the debt ceiling and congressional salary increases, the LeMieux team weighed in and forwarded information on a series of House votes from 2005 through 2007.

No one is surprised that career politician Connie Mack Jr. forgot his spotty voting record while visiting Florida, said Anna Nix, LeMieuxs press secretary, in a statement on Tuesday. While Mack Jr. would prefer to inherit the Senate seat, Florida voters want him to fess up to his checkered history. Floridians deserve the truth, not a career politician who refuses to acknowledge the reality of his past.
