George LeMieux Jabs GOP Rival Connie Mack
With a poll from Quinnipiac University released on Wednesday finding him trailing U.S. Rep. Connie Mack in the race for the Republican nomination to challenge Democrat U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux came out swinging at his primary rival. Weighing in on the national debt, LeMieux took a shot at Mack on Wednesday.
Americas fiscal crisis has reached a new level with the debt now equal to our economy, LeMieux said in a statement. The amount of goods and services America produces each year is cancelled out by the fiscally irresponsible decisions made by career politicians. We are in this situation because of career politicians like Connie Mack Jr., who request wasteful earmarks and raise the debt ceiling, ignoring the fact that we are broke.
"When I was in the United States Senate, I never requested a wasteful earmark, always voted against raising the debt ceiling, and offered a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. With the debt now equal to our economy, it is time we elect a serious senator who knows the true meaning of fiscal responsibility.
