George LeMieux Hits Bill Nelson Over Meeting Syrian Leader

Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, part of a crowded field of Republican candidates in the primary, looked to poke Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelsons foreign policy credentials on Tuesday.

Bill Nelson boasted yesterday that he has met with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad three times in the past 11 years, said LeMieux. Meeting with a brutal dictator is nothing to be proud of. Syria is one of only a handful of nations officially named a state sponsor of terror. We do not negotiate with terrorists. Not only does Syria support Hezbollah and Hamas, the government also brutalizes its own people. Sipping tea with terrorists only serves to legitimize them. Florida deserves a senator who knows better.
