George LeMieux Attacks Obama and Bill Nelson on Jobs and Spending
Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, now running in a crowded Republican primary to see who will challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, took aim at President Barack Obama on Tuesday as the president prepares to address the nation on jobs on Thursday night.
Two years after Nelson and Obama promised that their big-spending policies would reduce unemployment and restore our economy, Floridians are still struggling with an unemployment rate near 11 percent, noted LeMieux. This Thursday night, the president is expected to deliver a speech that will offer more of the same failed stimulus policies that have yet to get Floridians back to work.
LeMieux attacked Obama as well as Nelson and other Democrats -- including U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, the former House speaker who now is House minority leader.
Now, as the presidential election continues to approach, Speaker Pelosi has suggested that Democrats call the new Obama proposal a different name than stimulus, even though their favored policies are largely the same. It is President Obama, Bill Nelson, and Nancy Pelosis hope that voters wont notice, continued LeMieux. Proposing a massive new spending plan after weve seen no results from the first, beyond more debt, is irresponsible. No matter what you call it, the new Obama stimulus is still more of the same failed, big-spending Nelson/Obama policies that have deepened our debt and prolonged this recession.
