George LeMieux: 10 T-38 Talons Headed to Tyndall Air Force Base
While he may be entering the last month of his term, U.S. Sen. George LeMieux shows no signs of slowing down. The Florida Republican, who has his eyes on taking on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, announced on Tuesday that Tyndall Air Force base will be getting a squadron of 10 T-38 Talons.
This is fantastic news for Tyndall Air Force Base and the Panama City area, said LeMieux, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee. This detachment will complement the existing F-22 program operating out of Tyndall. Bringing more planes to the area will also bring more jobs, increasing economic activity throughout North Florida.
Look for five planes to arrive at Tyndall by September 2011 with the rest coming by March 2012.
