Gayle Harrell, Joe Negron to Talk Everglades Restoration in Stuart
Rep. Gayle Harrell, R-Port Saint Lucie, will be holding a press conference in Stuart Thursday to discuss a proposal to clean up the Florida Everglades.
Harrell will be joined by Senate President-Designate Joe Negron, R-Stuart, to talk about "Legacy Florida," a $200 million a year project to restore the Everglades and nearby waterways.
"Cleaning up the St. Lucie River, Lake Okeechobee, the Caloosahatchee River, the Indian River Lagoon and the Everglades has been a priority for me since I was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives," Harrell said. "The future of our way of life is linked directly to the health of our rivers, the Indian River Lagoon, Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades. 'Legacy Florida' will provide the resources to make it possible for our children and grandchildren to enjoy these natural treasures."
Harrell is expected to file legislation on the project.
The press conference will be held at the RiverWalk Stage at 10 a.m. in Stuart.
