Gas Inches Closer to $4 a Gallon Mark across Florida

While pump prices across Florida already show that many vendors are selling gas above the $4 a gallon mark, the average gallon of gas in the Sunshine State now stands at $3.93.

The amount is up 3 cents from a week ago, 14 cents from a month ago.

AAA projects Florida -- which is a penny higher than the national average -- will top the $4 mark in April, but not this week.

Already, 11 states are above the $4 mark, with Maryland, Nevada, Wisconsin and West Virginia due to hit the mark this week, according to AAA.

Not too much has changed from last week in terms of whats affecting the oil market and retail gas prices, Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, stated in a release.

President Obama and other world leaders still plan to enact further sanctions on Iran in hopes of preventing the country from developing nuclear weapons. As long as tensions remain with Iran, we are going to see elevated gas prices.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange, a barrel of oil started the week at $103.02, down $3.85 from a week earlier.
