Gallup Poll: Kennedy, Reagan Americans' Top Modern Presidents

A new Gallup poll reveals Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan top the list of Americans' retrospective approval ratings for modern presidents.
Kennedy got a rating of 85 percent, up a point from the same poll in 2006, while Reagan got a 74 percent rating, up 3 points from the last poll.
Former President Bill Clinton came in third with 69 percent. He rose 8 percentage points from the previous poll, as did George H. W. Bush, who came in fourth out of the nine presidents ranked with 64 percent. The only president to lose approval from the 2006 poll was President Jimmy Carter, who dropped 9 percentage points to 52 percent, falling from third to sixth place.
