Gallup: GOP Takes Unprecedented Lead
Submitted by Kevin Derby on August 31, 2010 - 9:38am
Though still two months away, midterm elections are shaping up quite favorably for Republicans nationally.
A Gallup poll of registered voters out this week marks the fifth week in a row where Republicans have held an advantage over Democrats on a generic ballot.
But this week, the GOP took a 10 point lead, the highest since Gallup started tracking the generic ballot in 1942.
From Gallup:
Republicans lead by 51 percent to 41 percent among registered voters in Gallup weekly tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences. The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP's largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress.
