
FSU College of Medicine Honors Durell Peaden

The Florida State University College of Medicine will hold an event on Monday as it names it auditorium after former state Sen. Durell Peaden.
Peaden, a physician himself, was the sponsor of the bill creating FSU’s medical college back in 2000. FSU President John Thrasher, who was Florida House speaker when the bill passed, and legislators past and present will be at the event honoring Peaden who passed away in June.
FSU will also name its Rural Medical Education Program after Peaden who had focused on ensuring medical services were in place in rural areas including his Panhandle district. First elected to the Florida House in 1994, Peaden won a Senate seat in 2000 and was term limited in 2010.
