Freshman Dennis Ross Will Head Up Congressional Subcommittee

While he may have been in Congress for less than two weeks, Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross is making an impression -- being chosen to lead the Subcommittee on the Federal Workforce under the umbrella of the full Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Congressman Ross is committed to helping lay the foundation for a 21st century federal work force that gets more done with less and no longer grows itself at the expense of private-sector job creation, said U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who is the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. His experience as an entrepreneur and job creator, and his principled leadership in the state House, tell me he is the thoughtful and courageous leader we need for this important subcommittee.

I am deeply honored by the responsibility Chairman Issa has bestowed upon me and honored to be serving with subcommittee vice chair Congressman Justin Amash, said Ross, who represents parts of Hillsborough, Osceola and Polk counties. The work of this subcommittee is especially important during this time of massive debt and bloated government.

Taxpayers are right to demand a federal bureaucracy that utilizes transformational technologies and work force innovation to reduce the size, scope, and cost of the federal footprint, added Ross. As a small-business owner for over 20 years, I know it is time we bring some good old-fashioned American entrepreneurial competitiveness to the federal work force.I look forward to the challenge and welcome the opportunity.
