Frederica Wilson Offers Two Takes on Why Republicans Win
Before being elected to Congress in 2010, South Florida U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson was a veteran of Tallahassee, serving for more than a decade in both chambers of the Florida Legislature. Speaking to the Florida Democratic Convention, Wilson -- wearing one of her many colorful hats -- tried to carry water for President Barack Obama before accusing Republicans of trying to suppress the vote.
This is how they cheat, insisted Wilson, pointing to laws requiring voters to show identification. Wilson insisted Republicans are pushing this law since that was the only way they can win elections.
But then, without a blink, Wilson flipped altogether and weighed in on the 2010 elections. Rick Scott is governor because we did not vote, said Wilson, adding that Democrats will hit the polls in 2012.
