Four Florida Cities Among Highest Unemployed Areas

A report released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed four Florida cities in the list of top 20 metropolitan areas with the highest unemployment rates for the month of August.

Palm Coast was the highest Florida metro area on the list, coming in at seventh with an unemployment rate of 16.4 percent. It was followed closely by the Sebastian-Vero Beach metro area, which came in at eighth with a 16.2 percent unemployment rate. Port St. Lucie and Ocala round off the Florida cities on the list, with unemployment rates of 14.6 and 14.4, respectively. Port St. Lucie ranked 16th and Ocala ranked 19th on the list.

Florida has the second-most cities on the list, behind California, which has a whopping 12 metro areas in the top 20.

El Centro, Calif., topped the list with an unemployment rate of 30.4 percent.
