Foundation for Florida's Future Says Farewell to Kathleen Shanahan

The Jeb Bush-backed Foundation for Florida's Future (aFloridaPromise) had warm words of praise for State Board of Education member Kathleen Shanahan on Tuesday. Shanahan will be leaving her position at the end of December after serving eight years on the state board.

Kathleen has always been one to speak up for children, said Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and chairman of aFloridaPromise. She has been a champion for accountability and choices in Florida education, helping to keep the states focus on student learning. Our state was fortunate to have such a strong and passionate voice to help guide decisions affecting all Florida families.

Kathleen led boldly and served Florida families during a pivotal time in our states education reform history, saidPatricia Levesque, executive director of aFloridaPromise. She stood up for student-centered decisions, even when doing so was not the popular or comfortable thing to do. I am grateful for her leadership, service and friendship.
