Former Wilton Manors Mayor Jim Stork Backs Jeff Greene
While the Democratic establishment has remained wary of Jeff Greenes bid for the U.S. Senate, officeholders and former occupants of political office are slowly coming around to back the billionaire investors bid.
Earlier in the month, Rep. Joe Abruzzo, D-Wellington, announced he was backing Greene. On Monday, former Wilton Manors Mayor Jim Stork, who ran for Congress in 2004 before pulling out due to health concerns, endorsed Greene. Stork has publicly come out of the closet and has worked on various gay rights issues and initiatives.
"Jeff Greene will stand up to Washington insiders and will fight for our core Democratic values," said Stork. "He will work to create good-paying jobs, strengthen environmental laws, make college affordable, repeal 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' and ensure quality health care for all."
"I'm honored to have Jim's support, a successful businessman and leader in the LGBT community," said Greene. "As U.S. senator, I will work to revitalize Florida's economy, create jobs, and get real results. I am the only candidate who is an outsider, has successfully created jobs and won't take a penny from any special interest."
