Former Reagan Aide Seeks Juice Boycott over Early Primary

California businessman and former Reagan aide Fred Karger is calling for a boycott of Florida orange juice because of the early primary.

Karger, who is also running for president as a Republican, is calling for the boycott to last for 30 days -- starting Nov. 1-- or "until Florida officials come to their senses."

Every four years, we pick the nominees for president of the two major political parties in this country, Karger said. Now, for whatever reason, the state of Florida moved its primary from March 2012 to Jan. 31, 2012, forcing the four traditionally early states to move their primaries up as well. New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and Nevada all lose half their delegates because of Florida. The voters lose, too. Voters need more time to get to know all 11 serious GOP candidates for president. We hope that by putting economic pressure on Floridas second largest industry -- orange juice -- state leaders will do the right thing.

Karger's name,it should be noted, wasn't among the list supplied Monday by the Republican Party of Florida to be onFlorida's Jan. 31 presidential preference primary ballot.

To emphasize his boycott call, Karger has introduced a new commercial called Anita Who?
