Floridians Content With Debt Ceiling Resolution
A poll unveiled by Viewpoint Florida on Friday revealed that voters in the Sunshine State on the whole were content with the deal to raise the federal debt ceiling. A majority of those surveyed -- 58 percent --said they would be more likely to back congressional incumbents who voted to raise the debt ceiling, while 36 percent said they were less likely to back them.
Despite the partisan bickering on the issue, 59 percent of both Florida Republicans and Democrats were more likely to back incumbents who voted to raise the ceiling. But 41 percent of those surveyed thought nobody in Washington stepped up to handle the issue.
While 28 percent gave high marks to President Barack Obama on the matter, 21 percent cheered congressional Republicans for their actions.
The poll of 801 likely voters was conducted on Aug. 7 and had a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percent.
