Florida's Jobless Rate Drops Under National Average

Florida's unemployment rate was7.8 percent in January, marking its lowest level sinceNovember 2008, according to information released by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Monday.

The January jobless rate came in a tick under December's revised rate of7.9 percent as well as under the national January unemployment rate of 7.9 percent. It was the first time Florida has not outpaced the U.S. jobless average since January 2008.

January's rate translates to 740,000 jobless Floridians.
