Florida's First Libertarian Primary Draws 68 Votes ... Total

Talk about a tiny turnout. The first-ever Libertarian primary in Florida drew a grand total of 68 voters in state House District 33.

The winner, Franklin Perez, garnered 49 votes to beat Ellen Paul, who drew 19.

Perez, who fashioned himself as the more doctrinaire Libertarian candidate, will face Republican Jason Brodeur and Democrat Leo Cruz in the general election.

The Central Florida House seat was vacated by Sandy Adams, R-Oveido, who was term-limited. Adams on Tuesday narrowly won the Republican nomination in the 24th Congressional District, beating second-place finisher Karen Diebel by fewer than 600 votes.
