Florida Will Mark 9/11 With Flags at Half Mast and Moment of Silence
Florida will be marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with flags at half mast and a moment of silence.
In memory and honor of those who died as a result of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and in observance of Patriot Day, the governor hereby requests that all federal, state, county, and city government-owned buildings within the state of Florida fly the flags of the United States and the state of Florida at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sept. 11, 2011, noted Gov. Rick Scott in a memo sent out on Thursday afternoon. The governor also requests that a minute of silence be observed by all Floridians beginning at 8:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sept. 11, 2011, in memory of those who died as a result of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
