Florida Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.8 Percent
Gov. Rick Scott announced on Friday that the unemployment rate in Florida dropped to 5.8 percent in November, the lowest since May 2008. Back in October, the rate stood at 6 percent. Scott also noted that Florida has seen 715,700 new jobs in the private sector since he took over. During the 2010 campaign, Scott said his economic policies would create 700,000 new jobs over seven years.
Four years ago, we unveiled an ambitious plan to fix Floridas economy and turn the state around, Scott said on Friday. Our goal was to create 700,000 jobs in seven years. Today our goal was reached three years early, with 715,700 private-sector jobs created in Florida since December 2010. I applaud our job creators across the state who sacrifice and work hard to create new jobs. Every job impacts a family and we will keep working each day to make Florida the worlds No. 1 destination for jobs.
