Florida's back-to-school tax holiday will hit stores across the state this weekend, and government watchdog Florida TaxWatch is weighing in on the possible savings the holiday has in store for Floridians.
"This weekend from Aug. 1-3, Floridians will save nearly $40 million in taxes while they shop tax-free for back-to-school supplies," said Florida TaxWatch President and CEO Dominic Calabro.
"As a taxpayer watchdog, Florida TaxWatch has long supported sales tax holidays in Florida," he continued. "They are a great way to lower the tax burden and provide broad-based relief for hard-working Floridians."
Calabro explained that over the last 16 years, the back-to-school sales tax holiday has saved Florida taxpayers nearly $408 million.
