Florida Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner Offers His Thoughts on SOTU
On Wednesday morning, Florida Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando, offered his take on President Barack Obamas State of the Union address.
The State of the Union address reminds us we are part of something greater than ourselves. We are Americans, and we are Floridians, said Gardiner. We heard themes in President Obamas address which echo Republican-led issues within the Florida Legislature. Job creation, innovation, quality of education, tort reform and a more efficient government are all areas in which Florida Senate Republicans are working hard to improve policy and create opportunities within the Sunshine State. We hope to see President Obama act on his sentiments with a definitive plan specifically for restrained spending.
As members of the Florida Legislature, we must continue to work hard to make Florida the best place in America to do business, the best place to educate our children and the best place to call home, added Gardiner. We need to foster an environment of personal freedoms and personal responsibility. By fostering an environment of free enterprise and limited government, traditions which made America great, we will get Florida and the country back on track.
As President Obama noted, the U.S. still has the largest, most prosperous economy in the world, said Gardiner in closing. It is the land of opportunity. Florida plays an important part in our nations prosperity and in our nations challenge to maintain the role of world leader. It is our responsibility to make the right choices for Americas future.
