Florida Senate Applauds bin Laden's Death

Before embarking on the last week of the legislative session, the Florida Senate took time to recognize the momentous killing of Osama bin Laden late Sunday.

"Iwant to applaud the incredible forces that carried out this mission. I also want to applaud Barack Obama, our commander in chief [for a] job well done," Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, said to open up the Senate session Monday. The statement elicited a round of applause from his fellow senators, staffers, and people in the gallery.

"Ithink we were all very pleased last night, with that spontaneous emotion that was in our office last night and around the country," Haridopolos added.
