Florida Ranks in Middle of Pack in Reason's Highway Report

Florida is making progress but places in the middle of the pack of states on highway performance, according to the Annual Highway Report released on Thursday by the libertarian-oriented Reason Foundation. The Sunshine State placed 31st in 2012, up from 33rd in 2011 and 37th in 2009.

Florida scored well on rural interstate pavement condition by placing 10th, on deficient bridges by coming in 11th and taking 12th on both narrow rural arterial lanes and rural arterial pavement condition. But Florida placed 50th on urban interstate congestion and 49th on capital and bridge disbursements per mile. Florida ranked 32nd when it came to highway fatalities.
