Florida Ranked by CEOs as Next-to-Best State for Business

Chief Executive magazine released its survey of 650 CEOs on Wednesday which ranks Florida as the second best state to do business. While Texas tops the poll for the eighth year in a row, the Sunshine State--which placed third in last years survey --vaulted ahead of North Carolina for the second spot. Tennessee comes in fourth followed by Indiana in fifth. California ranks at the bottom of the survey, which dealt with issues ranging from quality of life, taxes, education and infrastructure. Joining California at the bottom of the survey, which was conducted from Jan. 24-Feb. 26, are New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Michigan.

This survey shows that states that create policies and incentives are rewarded with investment, jobs and greater overall economic activity, said Marshall Cooper, the CEO of Chief Executive magazine and ChiefExecutive.net, on Wednesday.

The survey did have good news for one politician who is in the mix to end up as Mitt Romneys running mate. Louisiana jumped up dramatically from last years survey, moving from the 27th spot to the 13th -- a feather in the cap for Gov. Bobby Jindal whose name has garnered some buzz.
