Florida Pump Prices Have Slight Increase Amid Global Tension

Gas prices in Florida have shown a slight uptick in the past month as global pressures have kept crude prices on the market hovering around the $100-a-barrel mark.

AAA Florida expects little movement through the week at Floridas pumps as efforts continue by the European Union, U.S., the U.K., and Canada to curb Iran's nuclear program.

A lot is happening around the globe that is putting both upward and downward pressure on oil prices, making it hard for any consistent trending in the market, Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, stated in a release.

Across Florida, prices began the week at $3.30 a gallon for regular gas, up from $3.29 a week earlier and $3.25 a month ago, according to AAA. Nationally, the average cost of a gallon stood at $3.28 the past two weeks, down from $3.43 a month earlier.

Meanwhile, crude oil ended last week at $99.41 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, down $1.55 from a week earlier.

The Department of Energy announced that stockpiles of crude oil increased 1.3 million barrels to 336 million -- a 10-week high.
