Florida Pastor: Fox Penalizes Christians by Refusing '3:16' Super Bowl Ad

A Florida pastor is calling on Fox Sports to air a "John 3:16" advertisement during the Super Bowl. But the network rejected the ad as wide right.

Rev. Mark D. Boykin, senior pastor ofthe Church of All Nations, and the Christian Family Coalition accuse Fox of "discriminating against Christians" by refusing to accept the spot produced by theFixed Point Foundation.

The "John 3:16" verse, a New Testament reference, has been part of the culture of football in America for decades. Fans see such signs in the stands and on players' tape and tattoos.

This is a prime example of Christian bashing andFox Sportmust be ashamed of its actions, Boykin said. I find it hard to believe that Fox Sports allows the sale of beer commercials, and commercials with half-naked women during the Super Bowl, but an ad that ask folks to go to the websitewww.LookUp316is a problem.

Anthony Verdugo, founder and executive director of the Christian Family Coalition, added, It seems that Fox Sports is willing to air movie trailers deemed too violent or commercials too sexual for primetime. But religious messages, even ones that are part of the sport and encourage viewers to decide for themselves if the message is a worthy one, are denied.

Fox Sports has two sets of programming standards -- one for everyone else, and one for Christians --and those of us who are Christians will not be allowed to air any commercials, even if we have the money to pay for it.
