Florida Middle School 'Teacher from Hell' Made Misspellers Write on Sandpaper Until They Bled?
It's probably not what legislators have in mind when they refer to education reform.
The Daily Caller reports that a public middle school teacher in Brandon is on paid leave while she's being investigated for allegedly using sandpaper to punish students who misspelled words.
The teacher, at Burns Middle School, allegedly made students write their misspelled words on sandpaper, and ordered them to continue doing so even after they told her they were bleeding.
We had to trace letters like I and J, 11-year-old Josh Sommer told CBS Tampa Bay. By the end of the time, my whole table was bleeding.
There are some students complaining that it hurt their fingers, and we dont think thats a good way to learn, said school spokesperson Steve Hegarty. I dont have any reason to believe that she was trying to abuse kids, but the outcome was not a good one.
