Florida Lottery Scores Again with Scratch-Off Tickets
The Florida lottery experienced another record-breaking week of sales in scratch-off tickets.
Sales of scratch-off ticketstotaledmore than $65.3 million for the week ending Feb. 24, 2013, which exceeded the previous weeks record of $64.7 million, according to the Florida lottery. The sales totals in both weeks were the largest recorded in a single week in the lotterys 25-year span.
Another record sales week means another win for education in Florida, said Florida lottery Secretary Cynthia OConnell. The lotterys sole mission is to maximize revenue for education, and we will remain focused on that mission by continuing to offer new and exciting games that will help generate enthusiasm among our players and grow revenues for education in our state.
Florida's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund will receive more than $12.2 million from the record sales.
The sales were led by the Millionaire scratch-off tickets, which garnered $9.7 million in sales. The newly launched Life Family of tickets accounted for 22 percent of the sales.
