Florida Lags in Race for Federal Dollars, Clean Energy Group Says

Commenting after Sunshine State News' report on a renewable-energy poll, power executive Josh Kellam called on Florida lawmakers to get moving on a clean-energy policy before year end.

While the majority of other states are already reaping the economic and environmental benefits of strong policies and incentives for renewable energy, Florida remains stuck in the starting gate, said Kellam, president of Citizens for Clean Energy and senior vice president of Global Energy United LLC.

We cant expect to catch up overnight, but we can make up a lot of ground if lawmakers take some initial steps in special session before the end of the year."

CCE said it is encouraged by the survey results, which found strong support for renewable energy policies.

"Quick passage of a renewable energy bill will put companies in a greater position to receive federal grants and federal investment tax credits that are set to expire at the end of the year," Kellam said.
