Florida Gulf ABC Backs David Jolly for Congress
The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) announced on Monday it was backing David Jolly for the Republican nomination in the special election for the congressional seat left open by the death of longtime U.S. Rep. Bill Young, R-Fla.
David has a history of advocating for pro-business issues, specifically those impacting the commercial construction industry, said ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter President and CEO Steve Cona III on Monday. He understands the free-enterprise principles our association was founded on, and we look forward to working with him in Washington, D.C.
I am proud to have the support of our local ABC Chapter today a group of highly-qualified, community-centered professionals who have developed our commercial construction industry, literally from the ground up, said Jolly. I look forward to continuing our conversations with industry representatives and thought leaders on how to best move our local construction industry forward in a sustainable manner, and help create jobs and support our construction-related workers in Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay area.
Jolly is battling state Rep. Kathleen Peters, R-St. Petersburg, and retired Marines Gen. Mark Bircher in the primary on Jan. 14. Whoever wins will take on former state CFO Alex Sink, the Democratic candidate, and Libertarian Lucas Overby in the general election on March 11.
